Information Services

One of the major functions of the ERCB is to provide access to data and information about the energy industry. Two areas of the ERCB form the major interface for access to public data and records:

The data and records available from each of these areas are described in more detail in the sections that follow. For detailed information on data available, please see the Publications Catalogue.

The ERCB’s Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) offers an excellent resource library with a collection of geoscience information available to government agencies, industry, students, and the public. The collection includes more than 150 journals and 25 000 books and documents. The Alberta Geological Survey Mineral Core Research Facility contains more than 58 572 metres of mineral core and 17 000 rock samples primarily extracted from the exposed Canadian Shield in northeast Alberta. These samples assist the Department of Energy in administering the Metallic and Industrial Minerals Regulations of the Mines and Minerals Act for Alberta.
