Revision to Interim Directive 2001-03: Sulphur Recovery Guidelines for the Province of Alberta
The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) has made an administrative change to how it manages Sulphur Emission Performance Credit Reports, as established in Interim Directive (ID) 2001-03: Sulphur Recovery Guidelines for the Province of Alberta. This change is noted on the first page of the revised ID 2001-03 (see attachment).
Beginning in 2001 with the release of ID 2001-03, licensees of grandfathered sulphur recovery plants have had the opportunity to earn bankable sulphur emissions reduction credits for recovery performance exceeding plant requirements. In order to claim credits, licensees have been required to submit credit reports to the ERCB on a quarterly basis.
Commencing with the April-June 2009 credit report, normally due on July 18, the ERCB will calculate and record credits for grandfathered sulphur recovery plants and e-mail the credit reports to the licensees.
Each licensee will be asked to verify the ERCB-generated report, rather than create this report itself. If the licensee notes any discrepancies, it should contact the ERCB at the e-mail address or phone number below. This administrative change is expected to save time for both industry and the ERCB.
To report discrepancies or if you have any questions or concerns regarding these changes, please contact the ERCB Production Operations Section by e-mail at EUB.S30Support@ercb.ca or Catherine Thistlethwaite by telephone at 403-297-6918.
