Addition of New Waste Codes with the recent release of ERCB Directive 047: Requirements for the S-25 Monthly Oilfield Waste Management Facility Statement

With the recent release of Directive 047 , there was the addition of new wastes codes that are required for reporting purposes. The waste codes will affect the reporting requirements for oilfield waste management facilities ( Directive 047 ) as well as oilfield waste generators reporting the 2009 annual oilfield waste disposition report in accordance with ERCB Directive 058: Oilfield Waste Management Requirements for the Upstream Petroleum Industry . The following waste codes have been created to better define the oilfield waste and provide greater clarity:

CWATER           Waters Contaminated (leachate, collected surface waters)
DRWSHC*  Drilling Waste Hydrocarbon (replaces SUMPIN)
DRWSGC*   Drilling Waste Gel Chemical (replaces SUMPGL)
DRWSAC* Drilling Waste Advanced Gel Chemical (replaces SUMPKC)
FRFLDW*

Frac Fluid (water Based)

FRFLDH* Frac Fluid (hydrocarbon based)
FRFLDR* Frac Fluid Radioactive
FRMFNS*Residual formation fines after treatment and settlement
SLGEML* Sludge – Emulsion
SOILEM*   Contaminated Debris and Soil (emulsion)
SWBFLD*Swabbing Fluid


 
When the consolidation of Directive 058 is released the new waste codes will be added to Table 7.4 Waste Management Table . Please note, the waste codes with asterisks are considered reportable oilfield wastes and will be added to Table 9.1 Reportable Oilfield Wastes of Directive 058 .
