Battle Lake Development Plan Pilot Project
The ERCB (formerly EUB) is coordinating an area oil and gas development planning pilot project in the Battle Lake area of central Alberta. The project is addressing oil and gas development in the two to three townships of the Battle Lake watershed area. The objectives of the project are to:
- Protect the watershed from adverse and cumulative effects of oil and gas development, and
- Mitigate the potential adverse effects of oil and gas development on area residents and other land users.
The pilot is a result of Decision 2005-129 where the Board identified that additional measures must be taken to ensure that future development continues to be conducted in an orderly, effective, and environmentally sensitive manner. This webpage provides links to information on the pilot project, as well as a vehicle for interested parties to provide input and feedback.
