SULPHUR RECOVERY AND SULPHUR EMISSIONS AT ALBERTA SOUR GAS PLANTS—ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE 2008 OPERATING YEAR

This annual report on sulphur recovery and sulphur emissions at sour gas plants provides a summary of industry performance following the implementation of Interim Directive (ID) 2001‑03: Sulphur Recovery Guidelines for the Province of Alberta . This report provides information on plants that have been degrandfathered and tracks emission and sulphur inlet for these plants and summary information for nongrandfathered plants.

The report contains

• the current status of all grandfathered acid gas flaring and grandfathered sulphur recovery plants (grandfathered plants are those that do not meet the sulphur recovery requirements for new plants listed in ID 2001-03 ; this includes some sulphur recovery plants and larger [sulphur inlet greater than 1 tonne per day] acid gas flaring plants);
  
• figures showing sulphur emissions and sulphur inlets at grandfathered plants from 2000 to 2008;
  
• the credits earned by each grandfathered sulphur recovery plant for each reporting quarter in 2008;
  
• 2008 sulphur emission information for all sulphur recovery plants, acid gas injection facilities, and grandfathered acid gas flaring plants; and
  
• detailed 2000 and 2008 information on sulphur production and sulphur emissions for each of the sulphur recovery plants.
