Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) will hold a public hearing of the subject applications at the Wheatland County Inn, located at 960 Westridge Road in Strathmore, Alberta, commencing on Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at 9:00 a.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance. 

Application No. 1073971 For Special Gas Well Spacing

EnCana Corporation (EnCana) has applied under the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations and the Oil and Gas Conservation Act to reduce the drilling spacing units for the production of gas from the Belly River Group from one section to one quarter section with the target areas being Legal Subdivisions (LSD) 6, 8, 14, or 16, in Sections 19, 20, 21, 27 to 33 inclusive, and 35 of Township 24, Range 26, West of the 4th Meridian (W4M), and in Sections 6 and 7 of Township 25, Range 26, W4M. The project area is located approximately 10 kilometres west of Strathmore. 

EnCana further proposes to establish a holding for the production of gas from the Belly River Group in the above-noted area. The applicant proposes that within the holding, a producing well shall be at least 400 metres (m) from each other well producing from the same pool, a producing well shall be at least 200 m from the boundary of the holding, only one well may be produced per quarter section from the same pool, and the well with the unique identifier of 00/04-19-024-26W4/0 be exempted from the buffer zone.

EnCana has applied pursuant to Section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations to drill seven (7) sweet natural gas wells. EnCana proposes to drill the wells vertically from the following surface locations: 

Application No. 1249838: LSD 5-6-25-26 W4M

Application No. 1249839: LSD 6-27-24-26 W4M

Application No. 1249840: LSD 6-35-24-26 W4M

Application No. 1249842: LSD 9-20-24-26 W4M

Application No. 1249843: LSD 2-29-24-26 W4M

Application No. 1249845: LSD 10-31-24-26 W4M

Application No. 1253483: LSD 9-19-24-26 W4M

The purpose of the wells would be to obtain production from the Edmonton and Belly River Formations. 

Application No. 1249836 For Natural Gas Pipeline System

EnCana has applied pursuant to Part 4 of the Pipeline Act to construct and operate a sweet gas gathering system consisting of nine (9) pipelines in Sections 19, 20, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33, and 35-24-26 W4M and Section 6-25-26 W4M. The proposed pipelines would be approximately 7.26 kilometres in total length with an outside diameter of 141.3 millimetres, and would transport natural gas containing 0.0 per cent hydrogen sulphide from the proposed wells to a tie-in point at LSD 4-26-24-26 W4M.

Notes

Any submission filed shall contain information detailing: 

(i)                  the desired disposition of the applications,

(ii)                the facts sustaining the position of the submitter,

(iii)               the reason why the submitter believes the Board should decide in  the manner advocated, and

(iv)              how the applications, if approved, may directly and adversely affect the submitter. 

Submissions relating exclusively to compensation for land usage are not dealt with by the EUB, but may be referred to the Alberta Surface Rights Board. 

In accordance with section 38 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, witnesses must give evidence under oath or affirmation.
