Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB/Board) will hold a public hearing of Application No. 1327299 in the Day Lodge of the Wintergreen Golf and Country Club near the Hamlet of Bragg Creek, Alberta. To get to the Wintergreen Golf and Country Club from Bragg Creek, travel west on Balsam Avenue; immediately after crossing the Elbow River, turn right on Wintergreen Road and proceed 3 kilometres (km). The hearing will commence on Tuesday August 31, 2004, at 9:00 a.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance.
Take Further Notice that EUB staff will hold an information session on Thursday, July 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Day Lodge of the Wintergreen Golf and Country Club to explain the EUB hearing process and the rules for intervener funding and to encourage the various interested parties to organize themselves so that they can best present their concerns to the Board. The merits of this application will not be discussed at this information session. Attendance is recommended but not mandatory.
Nature of Application 1327299
EOG Resources Canada Inc. (EOG) submitted an application in accordance with Section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for a licence to drill a level-2 critical sour well from a surface location in legal subdivision (LSD) 10, Section 35, Township 23, Range 5, West of the 5th Meridian to a projected bottomhole location in LSD 7-2-24-5W5M. The maximum hydrogen sulphide (H2S) concentration would be approximately 77.8 moles per kilomole (7.78 per cent), and the cumulative drilling H2S release rate would be 0.93 cubic metres per second (m3/s), with a corresponding emergency planning zone (EPZ) of 2.19 km. The purpose of the well would be to obtain gas production from the Rundle Group. The proposed well would be located about 6 km north of the Hamlet of Bragg Creek. (See figure.)

In accordance with Section 38 of the EUB's Rules of Practice, witnesses must give evidence under oath or affirmation.
Submissions relating exclusively to compensation for land usage are not dealt with by the EUB but may be referred to the Alberta Surface Rights Board.
If there are no valid submissions received, this hearing may be cancelled and the EUB will proceed with the disposition of the application without further notice or without a hearing.
The Board has determined that only those parties that own land within the 500 m setback of the well or reside within the modified EPZ, as shown on the figure, may be directly and adversely affected by the EUB's decision on Application No. 1327299. The Board will grant standing only to parties that meet these criteria. To date, the only parties that have met this test and that have been granted standing are Duncan O'Nions, James and Kelli Kovats, Graham Thomson, and David Deere. Should these parties withdraw their objections to Application No. 1327299, the Board may cancel the proceeding and continue to process the application in due course.
