NOTICE OF APPLICATION
APPLICATION NO. 1416406
SUNCOR ENERGY INC.
FIREBAG IN-SITU OIL SANDS PROJECT
POWER PLANT, TRANSMISSION LINES, SUBSTATIONS, AND CONNECTION

Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) may continue to process this application without further notice if no valid objections are received by April 13, 2006, before 2:30 p.m.

Nature of Application No. 1416406

Suncor Energy Inc. applied for approval to construct and operate the following electric facilities at its Firebag Oilsands Project located east of Fort McKay, Alberta:

A new cogeneration plant that would consist of two 85 MW gas turbines and two heat recovery steam generators and would be located on the Southeast quarter of Section 14, Township 95, Range 6, West of the 4th Meridian.

A new 144-kV substation to be designated 29EDD-0071 and to be located adjacent to the above cogeneration plant.

A new 1-kilometer-long, single-circuit, 144-kV transmission line (to be designated 29PL7-0005) from substation 29EDD-0071 to an existing substation in Section 11, Township 95, and Range 6, West of the 4th Meridian.

A new 144/260 kV substation to be designated 29EDD-0065 and to be located in Section 15, Township 95, and Range 6, West of the 4th Meridian.

A new 2-kilometer-long, double-circuit, 144-kV transmission line (to be designated 29PL7-0003 and 0004) from substation 29EDD-0071 to substation 29EDD-0065.

A new 48-kilometer-long, double-circuit, 260-kV transmission line (to be designated 29PL7-0012 and 0013) from substation 29EDD-0065 to an existing substation located in Section 36, Township 92, Range 10, West of the 4th Meridian, as shown in the attached map.

Any submissions filed shall contain information detailing:

(i) the desired disposition of the application;

(ii) the facts substantiating the position of the submitter;

(iii) the reasons why the submitter believes the EUB should decide in the manner advocated; and

(iv) how the proposed project, if approved, may directly and adversely affect the submitter.
