OLYMPIA ENERGY INC.

JUMPING POUND WEST FIELD

Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) will hold a public hearing of this application at the Beaupre Hall, Beaupre Creek Road #263035, Cochrane, Alberta, commencing on Tuesday, June 17, at 9:00 a.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance.

Nature of the Application Filed

Application No. 1286558 for a Well Licence

Olympia Energy Inc. (Olympia) applied pursuant to Section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for a licence to drill a directional well from a surface location in Legal Subdivision (LSD) 12, Section 2, Township 26, Range 6, West of the 5th Meridian to a projected bottom hole in the same LSD. The purpose of the well would be to obtain sweet natural gas production from the Viking formation. The proposed well would be located on Stoney Indian Reserve land on the south side of Ghost Lake, approximately 2 kilometres south of the Summer Village of Ghost Lake.

Application(s) Pending

Olympia has been directed by the EUB to file any further applications related to this project for pipelines(s) or surface facilities. The Board has set May 15, 2003 as the date by which these applications must be filed by Olympia to be considered at the hearing to be held starting June 17, 2003. The Board will issue an updated notice with a specific description of the pipelines/facilities applied for when received.

To File a Submission

The Board has established the following filing deadlines for this hearing:

May 15, 2003:          Final date for filing of any further applications by Olympia

May 30, 2003:            Final date for submissions by any persons having concerns respecting the Olympia application(s)

June 6, 2003:           Final date for any response from Olympia to the submissions filed by concerned parties

Any person intending to make a submission with respect to the hearing of these applications should send a copy of the submission to the applicant at the name and address above, and a copy to:

EUB staff note that several submissions have already been filed in regard to the above application. These will be kept on file and the same submission does not need to be re-filed. EUB staff are also aware that discussions have been ongoing between Olympia and some individuals who have filed submissions. Where these discussions have resulted in concerns being fully resolved, the EUB requests that the party who initially filed the objection inform the EUB that he or she no longer has any objection to the proposed development.

Notes

Any submission filed shall contain information detailing:

(i)                 the desired disposition of the application(s),

(ii)               the facts supporting the position of the submitter,

(iii)              the reason why the submitter believes the EUB should decide in the manner advocated, and

(iv)             how the proposed project, if approved, may directly and adversely affect the submitter.

If there are no bona fide objections received, this hearing may be cancelled and the EUB will continue to process the application without further notice or without a hearing.

In accordance with Section 38 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, witnesses must give evidence under oath or affirmation.

Submissions relating exclusively to compensation for land usage are not dealt with by the EUB, but may be referred to the Alberta Surface Rights Board.
