NOTICE OF HEARING

Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) will hold a public hearing of Application No. 1448800, 1460293 and 1460301 at the Drayton Valley Omniplex, 5737 – 45 Ave, Drayton Valley, Alberta, commencing on Monday, September 11, 2006 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance.
Nature of the Application
Burlington Resources Canada Ltd. submitted applications in accordance with Section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for a licence to drill three directional Level-3 critical sour well from a surface location in Legal Subdivision (LSD) 6 of Section 6, Township 49, Range 8, West of the 5th Meridian to projected bottom hole locations in LSD 14-6-59-8W5M (Application No. 1448800), LSD 7-6-49-8W5M (Application No. 1460301) and LSD 3-7-49-8W5M (Application No. 1460293). All three proposed wells would have a maximum hydrogen sulphide (H2S) concentration of approximately 250 moles per kilomole (25.0 per cent) and the cumulative drilling H2S release rate would be 2.25 cubic metres per second (m3/s) with corresponding emergency planning zone of 4.0 kilometres. The purpose of the wells would be to obtain oil production from the Nisku Formation. The proposed wells would be located approximately 11 kilometres west of Drayton Valley.

Notes
Any submission filed shall contain the following:
(a) a concise statement indicating
(v) the manner in which the intervener’s rights may be directly and adversely affected by a decision of the Board on the proceeding,
(v) the nature and scope of the intervener’s intended participation,
(iii) the disposition of the proceeding that the intervener advocates, if any,
(iv) the facts the intervener proposes to show in evidence,

If there are no submissions received, this hearing may be cancelled and the EUB will continue to process the application without further notice or without a hearing.
In accordance with Section 38 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, witnesses must give evidence under oath or affirmation.
Submissions relating exclusively to compensation for land usage are not dealt with by the EUB but may be referred to the Alberta Surface Rights Board.
