NOTICE OF APPLICATIONS
APPLICATIONS NO. 1293939 AND 1300412
FOR A LICENCE TO DRILL TWO SWEET GAS WELLS
BEAVERHILL LAKE FIELD (HASTINGS LAKE AREA)
TEMPEST ENERGY CORPORATION

Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) may continue to process these applications without further notice if valid objections are not received on or before July 31, 2003.

Nature of the Applications

Application No. 1293939

Tempest Energy Corporation (Tempest) submitted an application on February 26, 2003 to the EUB pursuant to Section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations (the OGCR's) for a licence to drill a directional sweet gas well from a surface location in Legal Subdivision (LSD) 6 of section 16, Township 51, Range 20 West of the 4th Meridian to a bottom hole location in LSD 12-16-51-20W4M. The purpose of the well is to obtain sweet gas production from the Glauconitic and Ellerslie formations. The proposed well would be located approximately 700 metres from the corporate limits of the Hamlet of Hastings Lake.

Tempest Energy Corporation (Tempest) has also submitted an application to the EUB on May 2, 2003, pursuant to Section 2.020 of the OGCR's for a licence to drill a directional sweet gas well at a surface location in LSD 2-18-51-20W4M and with a bottom hole location in the same location. The purpose of this well is to obtain sweet gas production from the Glauconitic formation. The proposed well would be located approximately 915 metres from the corporate limits of the Hamlet of Hastings Lake.

This Notice of Applications is being distributed to advise interested persons that the Board will consider the applications, as well as any submissions filed with respect to the applications, in the near future. Following this consideration a further notice will be provided to the public as to the disposition of the applications.

Please note that the Board may grant the application without a hearing if there are no submissions or objections to the application filed by a person whom the Board considers may be directly or adversely affected by a decision of the Board on the proceeding.

In addition, the progress of the applications, may be monitored on the EUB's Integrated Application Registry (IAR) system on the EUB's website at www.ercb.ca.

To File a Submission

The EUB received a number of letters from area residents while it was processing the applications and have retained those on the application file. If these individuals would like to update their statements, please do so by July 31, 2003. If you have not filed a submission and have a valid interest in these applications and wish to file, please submit your concerns in writing including how you would be directly and/or adversely affected, no later than July 31, 2003. You must send one copy of your submission to Tempest and one copy to the EUB at the names and addresses above.

Notes

Any submission filed shall contain information detailing:

i)                   the desired disposition of the application

ii)                  the facts substantiating the position of the submitter

iii)                the reasons why the submitter believes the EUB should decide in the manner advocated

iv)               how the project, if approved, may directly and adversely affect the submitter

Any statements filed regarding these applications are public records, which are accessible by the public.
