APPLICATION NO. 1279036 

SPECIAL GAS WELL SPACING

HUSKY OIL OPERATIONS LIMITED

HUSSAR FIELD

 

Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) will hold a public hearing of Application No. 1279036 at the Strathmore Civic Centre, 120 Brent Boulevard, Strathmore, Alberta, commencing on Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at 9:00 a.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance.

 

Nature of Application No. 1279036

Husky Oil Operations Limited (Husky) applied for special gas well spacing for the production of

gas from the Medicine Hat Sand in 124 sections in the Hussar, Standard, and Countess Fields.

The Board has approved this application in part, but has decided to consider whether special

spacing should be granted for 24 of the sections involved.

 

For the 24 sections to be considered at the hearing, Husky has applied pursuant to section 4.040 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations (the Regulations) to establish one-quarter section drilling spacing units (DSUs), with the target areas being Legal Subdivisions 6, 8, 14, and 16, for the production of gas from the Medicine Hat Sand, in Section 33 of Township 23, Range 20, West of the 4th Meridian (33-23-20 W4M), Sections 4, 5, 14, 15, 18, and 21- 24-20 W4M, Sections 13, 23, 33, and 36-24-21 W4M, Sections 1, 2, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 26, 28, and

35-25-21 W4M, and Section 6-26-21 W4M. (See attached figure.)

 

Husky also applied under section 79(4) of the Oil and Gas Conservation Act and section 5.190 of the Regulations to suspend the DSUs in the areas noted above and establish holdings in the following areas:

Husky proposes that within each holding

·         a producing well shall be at least 200 meters from each other well producing from the same pool,

·         a producing well shall be at least 100 meters from the south and west boundaries of the holding, and

·         well density shall be restricted by interwell and buffer distances.
