NOTICE OF HEARING

Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) will hold a public hearing of Applications No. 1425928, 1425933, 1425954, 1425973, 1425698, 1426608, 1437188, 1437202, 1437222, & 1437231 at the Medicine Hat Lodge, 1051 Ross Glen Drive SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, commencing on Thursday, May 25, 2006, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance.

 

Nature of the Application

EnCana Corporation (EnCana) has applied pursuant to Section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for eighteen licences to drill eighteen wells from ten surface locations (listed below).  The maximum hydrogen sulphide (H2S) concentration for all of the proposed wells is expected to be 0.0 moles per kilomole (mol/kmol) (0.0 per cent (0.0%)).The purpose of all of the proposed wells would be to obtain natural gas production from the Medicine Hat Sands. The proposed wells would be located approximately 20.0km northwest of Brooks, Alberta.

  • Application 1425928: application for one directional well to be drilled from a surface location of 16-21-19-16W4.  Proposed well is to have a bottom hole location of 10-21-19-16W4.
  • Application 1425933: application for two directional wells to be drilled from the well pad location of 8-21-19-16W4.  Bottom hole locations are to be at 1-21 and 11-22-19-16W4.
  • Application 1425954: application for two directional wells to be drilled from the surface location of 8-20-19-16W4.  The proposed wells are to have bottom hole locations of 10-20 and 12-21-19-16W4. 
  • Application 1425973: application for three directional wells to be drilled from surface location of 6-29-19-16W4.  Bottom hole locations are: 4-29, 10-29, and 12-29-19-16W4.
  • Application 1425698: application for two directional wells from surface location 14-29-19-16W4, with bottom hole locations of 1-32 and 4-32-19-16W4.
  • Application 1426608: proposed three directional wells from 6-20-19-16W4 surface location.  Bottom hole locations are: 7-20, 5-20, 12-20-19-16W4.
  • Application 1437188: application for one directional well to be drilled from surface location 6-31-19-16W4, with bottom hole location of 11-31-19-16W4.
  • Application 1437202: application for two directional wells to be drilled from 16-20-19-16W4 surface location.  Bottom hole locations are: 3-28 and 1-29-19-16W4.
  • Application 1437222: application for one well to have a surface and bottom hole
  • Application 1437231:  application for one directional well to be drilled from a surface location of 14-15-19-16W4.  The expected bottom hole location is to be 2-22-19-16W4.

 Notes

Any submission filed shall contain the following:

 

(a)        a concise statement indicating

                       

(i)         the manner in which the intervener’s rights may be directly and adversely affected by a decision of the Board on the proceeding,

 

            (ii)         the nature and scope of the intervener’s intended participation,

 

(iii)        the disposition of the proceeding that the intervener advocates, if any,

 

(iv)        the facts the intervener proposes to show in evidence,

 

(v)         the reasons why the intervener believes the Board should decide in the manner that the intervener advocates, and

 

(vi)        the intervener’s efforts, if any, to resolve issues associated with the proceeding directly with the applicant;

 

(b)                 the name, address in Alberta, telephone number, fax number and, if available, e-mail address of the intervener;

 

(c)                 if the intervener is represented by a representative, the name, address in Alberta, telephone number, fax number and, if available, e-mail address of the representative;

 

(d)                 if the intervener is an unincorporated organization, the nature of the intervener’s membership.

 

If you have an interest in this matter, you are required to make a submission with respect to this application even if you have previously filed a submission with the Board or with EnCana Corporation on this application.

 

If there are no submissions received, this hearing may be cancelled and the EUB will continue to process the application without further notice or without a hearing.

 

In accordance with Section 38 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, witnesses must give evidence under oath or affirmation.

 

Submissions relating exclusively to compensation for land usage are not dealt with by the EUB but may be referred to the Alberta Surface Rights Board.

 

Note:  In accordance with Section 12 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, all documents filed in respect of this proceeding must be placed on the public record unless otherwise ordered by the Board.
