NOTICE OF RESCHEDULING OF HEARING

Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) had scheduled a public hearing of Applications No. 1480869 and 1486164 at the Town of Drayton Valley Omniplex, 5737 - 45 Avenue, Drayton Valley, Alberta, commencing on Monday, August 20, 2007, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. The Board received a request from an interested party to reschedule the hearing and it agreed to grant the request.
Therefore, Take Notice that the EUB will hold a public hearing of Applications No. 1480869 and 1486164 at the Causeway Bay Westwinds, 4225 50 Street, Drayton Valley, Alberta, commencing on Monday, September 17, 2007, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance.
Nature of the Applications
Highpine Oil & Gas Limited (Highpine) has submitted applications in accordance with Section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for licences to drill two Level 2 critical sour wells. The first application is to drill a vertical well from a surface location in Legal Subdivision (LSD) 16 of Section 14, Township 50, Range 7, West of the 5th Meridian. The second application is to drill a directional well from a surface location in LSD 14-18-50-6W5M to a projected bottomhole location in LSD 16-13-50-7W5M. The maximum hydrogen sulphide (H2S) concentration expected to be encountered in both wells would be approximately 216.7 moles per kilomole (21.67 per cent). The cumulative drilling and completion/servicing H2S release rates for each well would be 2.0436 cubic metres per second (m3/s), with corresponding emergency planning zones (EPZs) of 3.74 kilometres (km). The suspended/producing H2S release rate for each well would be 0.3867 m3/s, with corresponding EPZs of 1.21 km. The purpose of the wells would be to obtain crude oil production from the Nisku Formation. The proposed wells would be located approximately 6.5 km northeast of Rocky Rapids.

Any submission filed shall contain the following:
(a) a concise statement indicating
(i) the manner in which the intervener's rights may be directly and adversely affected by a decision of the Board on the proceeding,
(ii) the nature and scope of the intervener's intended participation,
(iii) the disposition of the proceeding that the intervener advocates, if any,
(iv) the facts the intervener proposes to show in evidence,
(v) the reasons why the intervener believes the Board should decide in the manner that the intervener advocates, and
(vi) the intervener's efforts, if any, to resolve issues associated with the proceeding directly with the applicant;
(b) the name, address in Alberta, telephone number, fax number and, if available, e-mail address of the intervener;

If there are no submissions received, this hearing may be cancelled and the EUB will continue to process the applications without further notice or without a hearing.
Submissions relating exclusively to compensation for land usage are not dealt with by the EUB but may be referred to the Alberta Surface Rights Board.
In accordance with Section 12 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, all documents filed in respect of this proceeding must be placed on the public record unless otherwise ordered by the Board.
In accordance with Section 23.1 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, a person who intends to raise a question of constitutional law before the Board must give notice in accordance with Section 12 of the Administrative Procedures and Jurisdiction Act and its regulation.
In accordance with Section 38 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, witnesses must give evidence under oath or affirmation.
