NOTICE OF RESCHEDULING OF HEARING
APPLICATIONS NO. 1240343, 1240344, 1240345, and 1240346

PENN WEST PETROLEUM LTD.

Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) had scheduled a public hearing of Applications No. 1240343, 1240344, 1240345, and 1240346 at the Westwind Motor Inn, 4225 50 Street, Drayton Valley, Alberta, commencing at 9:00 a.m. on January 9, 2002. The Board received a request from interested parties to adjourn the hearing and agreed to grant the request. 

Therefore, Take Notice that the EUB will hold a public hearing of Applications No. 1240343, 1240344, 1240345, and 1240346 at the Westwind Motor Inn, 4225 50 Street, Drayton Valley, Alberta, on March 13, 2002, commencing at 1:00 p.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance. 

Nature of the Applications

Penn West Petroleum Ltd. (Penn West) has proposed a project located approximately 20 kilometres (km) southeast of Drayton Valley that involves pipelines for multiphase fluid gathering, fresh water supply and produced water injection, as well as installation of water treating and injection facilities at its existing Keystone battery and gas plant located at Legal Subdivision (LSD) 5, Section 35, Township 48, Range 4, West of the 5th Meridian. 

Application No. 1240343

Penn West applied, pursuant to Part 4 of the Pipeline Act, to construct and operate approximately 17.45 km of 60.3 millimetre (mm), 88.9 mm and 114.3 mm outside diameter (OD) pipelines to transport and inject produced water to eight existing disposal wells all located within Township 48, Range 4, West of the 5th Meridian.

Penn West also applied under Part 4 of the Pipeline Act to construct and operate approximately 13.67 km of 88.9 mm to 114.3 mm OD pipelines to transport oil well effluent from eight wells to existing facilities within Township 48, Range 4, West of the 5th Meridian.  

Application No. 1240345

Further, pursuant to Part 4 of the Pipeline Act, Penn West applied to construct and operate approximately 4.46 km of 160.8 mm OD pipeline to transport fresh water from an existing pipeline to the proposed injection facilities at the existing Keystone battery and gas plant. 

Application No. 1240346

Additionally, Penn West applied, under Section 7.001 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations, to install water treating and injection facilities at the existing Keystone battery.

Any person intending to make a submission with respect to the hearing of Applications No. 1240343, 1240344, 1240345, and 1240346 shall file on or before 4 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2002. Send two copies of your submission to the applicant at the name and address above and ten copies of the submission to:

Notes

Any submission filed shall contain information detailing

(i)         the desired disposition of the applications,

(ii)        the facts substantiating the position of the submitter, and

(iii)       the reasons why the submitter believes that the Board should decide in the manner advocated.

In accordance with Section 38 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, witnesses must give evidence under oath or affirmation. 

If there are no bona fide objections received, this hearing may be cancelled and the EUB will continue to process the applications without further notice or without a hearing. 

Submissions related exclusively to compensation for land usage are not dealt with by the EUB, but may be referred to the Alberta Surface Rights Board.
