NOTICE OF HEARING

APPLICATIONS NO. 1304690 and 1304692

EXXONMOBIL CANADA LTD. AND EXXONMOBIL RESOURCES LTD.

CROSSFIELD FIELD

 

Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) will hold a public hearing of Applications No. 1304690 and 1304692 at the Best Western Hotel, 121 Edmonton Trail, Airdrie, Alberta, to commence on Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance.

 

Nature of Application

ExxonMobil Canada Ltd. and ExxonMobil Resources Ltd. (ExxonMobil) submitted applications in accordance with Section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for licences to drill two critical sour gas wells both from a surface location in Legal Subdivision (LSD) 8 of Section 1, Township 27, Range 28, West of the 4th Meridian to bottom hole locations in

LSD 4-1-27-28W4M and LSD 2-6-27-27M4W. The purpose of the applied for the wells is to obtain sour gas production from the Crossfield Formation. The maximum hydrogen sulphide (H2S) concentration of both wells would be approximately 27.0 percent and the cumulative drilling H2S release rate would be 2.230 cubic metres per second (m3/s). ExxonMobil has developed an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and conducted a notification and consultation for an Emergency Response Zone (EPZ) of 3.96 km. The proposed wells would be located approximately 12 km east of Airdire.

Notes

Any submissions files shall contain information detailing:

 

(i)                the desired disposition of the applications:

(ii)               the facts substantiating the position of the submitter;

(iii)             the reasons why the submitter believes the EUB should decide in the manner advocated; and

(iv)            how the proposed project, if approved, may directly and adversely affect the submitter

 

If you have an interest in the matter, you are required to make a submission with respect to these applications even if you have previously filed a submission with the Board or with ExxonMobil on these applications.

 

If there are no submissions received, this hearing may be cancelled and the EUB will continue to process the applications without further notice or without a hearing.

 

In accordance with Section 38 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, witnesses must give evidence under oath or affirmation.

 

Submissions relating exclusively to compensation for land usage are not dealt with by the EUB but may be referred to the Alberta Surface Rights Board.
