NOTICE OF HEARING
APPLICATIONS NO. 1471540, 1486287 AND 1504712
STANDARD ENERGY INC. AND DEFIANT RESOURCES CORPORATION
GRANDE PRAIRIE FIELD

Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB/Board) will hold a public hearing of Standard Energy Inc. Application No.1471540 and Defiant Resources Corporation Applications No. 1486287 and 1504712 at the Quality Hotel and Conference Centre, 11201 - 100 Avenue, Grande Prairie, Alberta, commencing on Monday, June 11, 2007, at the hour of 1:30 p.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance.

Nature of the Applications

Application 1471540
Standard Energy Inc. (Standard) submitted an application in accordance with Part 4 of the Pipeline Act for approval to construct and operate a pipeline for the purpose of transporting natural gas from an existing well at Legal Subdivision (LSD) 8, Section 1, Township 72, Range 5 West of the 6th Meridian, to an existing compressor station located at LSD 2-19-72-4W6M. The proposed pipeline would be 6.1 kilometres (km) in length with a maximum outside diameter of 168.3 millimetres (mm) and would transport natural gas with a maximum hydrogen sulphide (H2S) concentration of 17.0 moles per kilomole (1.7 per cent), with a corresponding calculated emergency planning zone (EPZ) of 372 metres (m). The proposed pipeline would be operated as a Level 1 pipeline and would be located approximately 5 km east of Grande Prairie.

Application 1486287
Defiant Resources Corporation (Defiant) submitted an application in accordance with Section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for a licence to drill a directional well from a surface location in LSD 5-18-72-4W6M to a projected bottom hole location in LSD 8-13-72-5W6M. The purpose of the proposed well would be to obtain natural gas containing no H2S from the Dunvegan Formation. The proposed well would be located approximately 5 kilometres east of Grande Prairie.

Application 1504712
Defiant submitted an application in accordance with Part 4 of the Pipeline Act for approval to construct and operate a pipeline for the purpose of transporting natural gas from the proposed well at LSD 5-18-72-4W6M to an existing compressor station located at LSD 2-19-72-4W6M. The proposed pipeline would be approximately 2.36 km in length with a maximum outside diameter of 88.9 mm and would transport natural gas with a maximum H2S concentration of 0.0 moles per kilomole (0.0 per cent). The proposed pipeline would be located approximately 5 km east of Grande Prairie.

Any person intending to make a submission with respect to the hearing of Standard Application No. 1471540 or Defiant Applications No. 1486287 and 1504712 should follow the Board Approved Hearing Schedule listed below. All submissions shall be filed on or before 4:00 p.m. on the respective date. Notes
Any submission filed shall contain the following:

(a) a concise statement indicating
 
(i) the manner in which the intervener's rights may be directly and adversely affected by a decision of the Board on the proceeding,

(ii) the nature and scope of the intervener's intended participation,

(iii) the disposition of the proceeding that the intervener advocates, if any,

(iv) the facts the intervener proposes to show in evidence,

(v) the reasons why the intervener believes the Board should decide in the manner that the intervener advocates, and

(vi) the intervener's efforts, if any, to resolve issues associated with the proceeding directly with the applicant;

(b) the name, address in Alberta, telephone number, fax number and, if available, e-mail address of the intervener;

(c) if the intervener is represented by a representative, the name, address in Alberta, telephone number, fax number and, if available, e-mail address of the representative; and

(d) if the intervener is an unincorporated organization, the nature of the intervener's membership.

If you have an interest in this matter, you are required to make a submission with respect to these applications even if you have previously filed a submission with the Board or with Standard or Defiant on these applications.

If there are no submissions received, this hearing may be cancelled and the EUB will continue to process the applications without further notice or without a hearing.

Submissions relating exclusively to compensation for land usage are not dealt with by the EUB but may be referred to the Alberta Surface Rights Board.

In accordance with Section 12 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, all documents filed in respect of this proceeding must be placed on the public record unless otherwise ordered by the Board.

In accordance with Section 23.1 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, a person who intends to raise a question of constitutional law before the Board must give notice in accordance with Section 12 of the Administrative Procedures and Jurisdiction Act and its regulation.

In accordance with Section 38 of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board Rules of Practice, witnesses must give evidence under oath or affirmation.
