Nature of the Application
Cordero Energy Inc. has applied pursuant to section 80 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Act (the OGCA) for an order prescribing that all tracts within the drilling spacing unit comprising Section 15 of Township 40, Range 21, West of the 4th Meridian (Section 15), be operated as a unit for the production of gas from all zones to the base of the Belly River Group, through a well to be drilled in Legal Subdivision 8 of the section, and from other wells to be drilled up to a maximum of four wells per section per pool.
Cordero further applied pursuant to section 86 of the OGCA to allow Cordero to sell the registered owner’s share of production from Section 15, pay out of those proceeds the costs and expenses payable to Cordero by such registered owner, and pay the balance of the proceeds to the Minister of Energy, to be held by the Minister in trust pending an order of the Court of Queen’s Bench or until a settlement has been reached by parties.
The applicant requested, among other things, that costs and revenues under the pooling order be allocated on a tract area basis, and that it be named the operator of the well to be produced. The applicant did not request any penalty to be imposed against actual drilling and completion costs.
