Take Notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) will hold a public hearing of the above applications at the EUB's offices located at 640 5th Avenue SW, Calgary, Alberta, commencing on November 13, 2001, at 9:00 a.m.
Nature of the Applications
The following described applications involve production of gas from the top of the Wabiskaw Member to the base of the McMurray Formation (Wabiskaw-McMurray) in the Leismer Field and Chard area within the Athabasca oil sands area:
Anderson Exploration Ltd. (Anderson) has submitted nine applications, pursuant to Section 3(4) of the Oil Sands Conservation Regulation (OSCR), for approval to produce gas.
Anderson has applied, pursuant to Section 43 of the Energy Resources Conservation Act (ERCA), for a review of two Anderson applications for approval to produce gas. These two applications were previously denied by the EUB.
Franco-Nevada Mining Corporation has applied, pursuant to Section 42 of the ERCA, for a review of two Anderson applications for approval to produce gas. These two applications were previously approved by the EUB.
The EUB has initiated a proceeding, pursuant to Section 3(5) of the OSCR, to review the potential impact of continued gas production on bitumen recovery from an Anderson well.
AEC Oil & Gas (AEC) has submitted three applications, pursuant to Section 3(4) of the OSCR, for approval to produce gas.
BP Canada Energy Company (BP Canada) has submitted four applications, pursuant to Section 3(4) of the OSCR, for approval to produce gas.
Paramount Resources Limited (Paramount) has submitted three applications, pursuant to Section 3(4) of the OSCR, for approval to produce gas.
Rio Alto Exploration Ltd. (Rio Alto) has submitted two applications, pursuant to Section 3(4) of the OSCR, for approval to produce gas.

Petro-Canada Oil and Gas (Petro-Canada) has applied, pursuant to Section 3(5) of the OSCR, for an order to shut in gas production from specific wells located in and surrounding the area of its Chard oil sands leases. Petro-Canada's Chard oil sands leases overlap a portion of the Leismer Field and are located in whole or in part in Townships 79 to 81, Ranges 6 to 8, West of the 4th Meridian.
The EUB Staff Submission Group (SSG) has applied, pursuant to Section 3(5) of the OSCR, for specific directives regarding grandfathered gas production in the Leismer Field. The SSG has further requested that the Board decide on a process for dealing with grandfathered wells elsewhere in the Athabasca Wabiskaw-McMurray deposit, which are producing from a fluvial-estuarine depositional environment.
