AMENDED NOTICE OF HEARING

The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB/Board) will hold a public hearing of Application No. 1623169 (Application) at the Lakeview Inn and Suites, 4302 – 50 Street, Drayton Valley, Alberta, commencing on June 22, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance.

The ERCB had scheduled the public hearing of the Application at the Causeway Bay Westwinds, 4225 – 50 Street, Drayton Valley, Alberta, commencing on June 22, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. This notice is to advise that the Board has changed the location of the hearing to the Lakeview Inn and Suites.

Description of the Application
West Energy Ltd. (West) submitted an application in accordance with Section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for a licence to drill a directional well from a surface location in Legal Subdivision (LSD) 16, Section 5, Township 50, Range 6, West of the 5th Meridian, to a projected bottomhole location in LSD 12-4-50-6W5M. The maximum hydrogen sulphide (H2S) concentration would be about 211.5 moles per kilomole (21.15 per cent) and the cumulative drilling H2S release rate would be 1.51 cubic metres per second (m3/s), with a corresponding emergency planning zone of 2.11 kilometres (km). The purpose of the well would be to obtain oil production from the Nisku formation. The proposed well would be located about 7.7 km east of the Hamlet of Rocky Rapids.
