EUB MOVES AES HEARING TO CHESTERMERE TO ACCOMMODATE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Calgary, Alberta (August 13, 2001) The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (the Board) today opened its public hearing concerning an application by AES Calgary ULC (AES) to construct a 525-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant east of Calgary's city limits. To ensure that the all members of the public have an adequate opportunity to participate, the Board decided to move the hearing to a larger venue.
The Board will reconvene the hearing in the Chestermere Community Hall, located at 201 West Chestermere Dr. in Chestemere, Alberta. The hearing will reconvene tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2001. In addition, an evening session, from 7:00 10:00 p.m. will be held that night to allow participation by those members of the public unable to attend the hearing during the day. The hearing is expected to take at least several days to complete.
