FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EUB GRANTS ADJOURNMENT OF VERMILION RESOURCES HEARING

Calgary, Alberta (October 9, 2002) The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) has granted a request by Vermilion Resources Ltd. to adjourn an upcoming hearing on its application to drill a sweet natural gas well in the Longview area.

The hearing, scheduled to begin on October 15 in High River, Alberta, has been adjourned until January 14, 2003. It will be held at the Highwood Memorial Centre in High River.

The company made the request after receiving an ecological effects analysis from the Pekisko Land Owners Association that was submitted to the EUB in late September. The adjournment would provide the company with sufficient time to fully review the submission, and provide both parties with an opportunity to consider other dispute resolution options.

The EUB has the discretion to review requests of this nature and determine if additional information may benefit the EUB in rendering a decision.

Earlier this year, the EUB received two separate adjournment requests from interveners for this hearing and granted both of them.

The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board ensures that the discovery, development, and delivery of Albertas resources take place in a manner that is fair, responsible, and in the public interest.
