EUB WORKING WITH EMERGENCY SERVICES AT CONOCOPHILLIPS BLOWOUT NEAR BEAVERLODGE

Calgary, Alberta (December 8, 2007) The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) is working closely with emergency services and ConocoPhillips following a blowout at a sweet natural gas well approximately 25 kilometres southwest of Beaverlodge. The blowout occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. today.

There have been no injuries, no evacuations and there is no public impact.

Air monitoring equipment is on site, information roadblocks have been set up and nearby residents have been informed about the incident. Currently, the sweet natural gas is being flared and there are no off lease emissions.

Air monitoring will continue for the duration of the incident.

EUB staff are onsite and will continue to oversee well control operations. As is the normal practice an investigation will be conducted at the conclusion of the incident.

All appropriate authorities and nearby residents have been notified.

The EUB ensures that the discovery, development, and delivery of Alberta's resources and utilities services take place in a manner that is fair, responsible, and in the public interest.
