EUB CHAIRMAN WILLIAM TILLEMAN ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION

Calgary, Alberta (March 31, 2008)  Dr. William Tilleman is resigning as Chairman of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) and returning to his private law practice, effective today.  Dr. Tilleman was appointed Chairman on September 17, 2007.

“During my time at the EUB, I am most proud of the work that the staff carried out to ensure the seamless transition of the EUB into the new Energy Resources Conservation Board and Alberta Utilities Commission,” said Tilleman.  “Both of those agencies are now on good footing, with clear mandates and great leadership.”

“When I took this job, I agreed to stay for a short term.  My assignment is now complete and I am moving on to other matters in my life that are awaiting my return,” added Tilleman.  “It has been a privilege to work with the staff and Board of the EUB.  I will miss the people very much.  I would also like to thank the Alberta Government and our many stakeholders for giving me the opportunity to serve the people of Alberta.”

Energy Minister Mel Knight said, “I would like to thank Bill for his service to Albertans as Chairman of the Board during this time of transition in the energy and utilities sectors.”

Effective January 1, 2008, the EUB was replaced by the Energy Resources Conservation Board and the Alberta Utilities Commission.   The EUB will continue to issue decisions on applications filed with it before January 2008.  The Board of the EUB will carry on the business of the organization and will wind down its affairs in the coming months.
