ERCB CONDITIONALLY APPROVES HIGHPINE SOUR OIL WELL APPLICATIONS

Calgary, Alberta (September 30, 2008) The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) has issued Decision 2008-088, which conditionally approves applications submitted by Highpine Energy Ltd. to drill five sour oil wells near Tomahawk, Alberta.

Conditions on the approvals include amendments that enhance Highpine’s Emergency Response Plan, additional well testing, and limitations on when the wells can be drilled, completed, and/or serviced. In the decision, the ERCB also lists commitments made by Highpine.

The applications were the subject of an ERCB hearing in Tomahawk, Alberta, which commenced on June 17, 2008, and concluded on July 4, 2008. The company also received approval for an injection well in the decision.

The ERCB ensures that the discovery, development, and delivery of Alberta's energy resources take place in a manner that is fair, responsible, and in the public interest.
