ERCB INVESTIGATING SWEET GAS RELEASE NEAR ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE

Calgary, Alberta (May 25, 2009) The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) is investigating a small release of oil and sweet natural gas that occurred on Saturday, May 23 at an oil well licensed to Bonavista Petroleum Ltd. The well is located approximately 30 kilometres northeast of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

There was no sour gas, no fire and no danger to public safety. Four area residents accepted a company offer to voluntarily leave the area following the incident. No mandatory evacuations were necessary.

Approximately 10 barrels of oil containing small amounts of sweet natural gas leaked during the incident. The majority of the oil was contained to the well site.

The company is currently cleaning the site and any offsite oil residue.

All appropriate authorities were notified.

The ERCB ensures that the discovery, development, and delivery of Alberta's energy resources take place in a manner that is fair, responsible, and in the public interest.
