NOTICE OF HEARING APPLICATION NOs. 1400023, 1378692, 1400026, 1400027, 1400028, 1400031, 1400604, 1400605, 1400606, 1400608, 1400610, 1400612, 1400613, 1400615, 1403095, 1403097, 1406138 CANADIAN NATURAL RESOURCES LIMITED LINDBERGH FIELD
Take notice that the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) will hold a public hearing of Application No. 1400023, 1378692, 1400026, 1400027, 1400028, 1400031, 1400604, 1400605, 1400606, 1400608, 1400610, 1400612, 1400613, 1400615, 1403095, 1403097, and 1406138 at the Neighborhood Inn, 5011-66th St Bonnyville, Alberta, commencing on November 8, 2005, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. All interveners to this proceeding must be present at the commencement of the hearing to register their appearance.
Nature of the Application
Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) has applied pursuant to Section 2.020 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations for licenses to drill twenty one vertical and slant oil wells from seven multiwell pad locations and one single well location. The maximum hydrogen sulphide (H2S) concentration for all of the proposed wells would be 0.0 mol/kmol (0.0 per cent). The purpose of all of the wells (listed below) would be to obtain crude bitumen production from the Sparky Member in accordance with crude bitumen production scheme 8069C.
- One proposed slant well and one proposed vertical well are to be drilled from a surface location of Legal Subdivision (LSD) 5, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian (W4M) and would have bottomhole locations of LSD 12, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian, and LSD 5, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian.
- Two slant wells and one vertical well are proposed to be drilled from a surface location of LSD 15, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian. The bottomhole locations would be LSD 3, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian; LSD 16, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian; and LSD 15, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian.
- Two slant wells and one vertical well are proposed to be drilled from a surface location of LSD 1, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian. The bottomhole locations are proposed to be LSD 7, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian; LSD 2, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian; and LSD 1, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian.
- Four slant wells and one vertical well are proposed to be drilled from a surface location of LSD 14, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian. Bottomhole locations would be LSD 13, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian; LSD 12, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian; LSD 11, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian; LSD 11, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian; and LSD 14, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian.
- One vertical and one slant well are proposed to be drilled from a surface location of LSD 8, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian. The bottomhole locations would be LSD 8, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian, and LSD 2, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian.
- One vertical and one slant well are proposed to be drilled from a surface location of LSD 4, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian. The bottomhole locations would be LSD 4, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian, and LSD 3, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian.
- Two slant wells and one vertical well are proposed to be drilled from a surface location of LSD 3, Section 14, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian. The bottomhole locations are proposed to be LSD 5, Section 14, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian; LSD 4, Section 14, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian; and LSD 3, Section 14, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian.
- One vertical well is to be drilled from a surface location of LSD 5, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian and have a bottomhole location of LSD 5, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian.
CNRL has submitted seven applications in accordance with Section 7.001 of the Oil and Gas Conservation Regulations requesting approval to construct and operate one single well battery and six multiwell batteries in the Lindbergh Field. The seven proposed well site batteries would comprise of flow lines and storage tanks. The purpose of the proposed batteries would be to measure and temporarily store production from the proposed wells to be situated on each surface location listed below.
The single well battery proposed location is LSD 5, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, W4M The proposed multiwell battery locations are listed below:

CNRL has applied in accordance with Part 4 of the Pipeline Act for approval to construct and operate seven pipelines All seven pipelines are to be constructed for the purpose of transporting natural gas containing 0.0mol/kmol H2S (0.0 per cent H2S) and would have an outside diameter (OD) of 114.3 millimetres (mm). All of the proposed pipelines would be operated as level 1 pipelines. The proposed pipelines routes and lengths are detailed below.
- The first proposed pipeline route is LSD 8, Section 3, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian to LSD 5, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian, and would be approximately 0.7 kilometres (km) in length.
- The second proposed pipeline route is from LSD 4, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian to LSD 8, Section 3, Township 58, Range 5, West of 4th Meridian, and would be approximately 0.35 km in length.
- The third proposed pipeline route is from LSD 3, Section 14, Township 58, Range 5, West 4th Meridian, to LSD 14, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of 4th Meridian, and would be approximately 0.51 km in length.
- The fourth proposed pipeline route is from LSD 14, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian, and terminate at LSD 1, Section 10, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian, and would be approximately 1.47 km in length.
- The fifth proposed pipeline route is from LSD 8, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian, to LSD 5, Section 1, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian, and would be approximately 0.63 km in length.
- The sixth proposed pipeline route is from LSD 4, Section 12, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian, and terminate at LSD 1, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian, and would be approximately 0.83 km in length.
- The last proposed pipeline route would be from LSD 1, Section 11, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian and terminate at LSD 15, Section 2, Township 58, Range 5, West of the 4th Meridian, and would be approximately 0.53 km in length.
All of the proposed development listed above would be located approximately 13 km northeast of Lindbergh, Alberta.

Any submission filed shall contain the following:
(a) a concise statement indicating
(i) the manner in which the intervener's rights may be directly and adversely affected by a decision of the Board on the proceeding,
(ii) the nature and scope of the intervener's intended participation,
(iii) the disposition of the proceeding that the intervener advocates, if any,
(iv) the facts the intervener proposes to show in evidence,
(v) the reasons why the intervener believes the Board should decide in the manner that the intervener advocates, and
