ERCB Information Open House, August 27, 2008

The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) is scheduled to hold two public hearings this fall in the Tomahawk area. The first is to consider Highpine Oil and Gas Limited (Highpine) Applications No. 1520574, 1521626 and 1521704 and Highpine Energy Ltd. Proceeding No. 1577611. The hearing of Highpine’s applications is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, September 16, 2008. The second hearing is to consider West Energy Ltd.’s Application No. 1547037 and is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Notices of Hearing for these proceedings were previously mailed to interested parties and are available on the ERCB Web site at www.ercb.ca. All of the applications mentioned above involve the proposed drilling of wells in the Tomahawk area.

In order to assist members of the public who may wish to participate in the hearings, the ERCB invites all interested parties to attend an ERCB Information Open House. The open house will allow members of the public to speak with ERCB staff directly involved in areas of interest identified by the community, including geology and reserves, emergency response planning, and technical review of applications. ERCB staff will also review the ERCB’s hearing process and the rules for intervener funding. Please note that ERCB staff will not discuss the specifics and merits of the applications, but will provide information intended to enable the public to engage effectively in the hearing process.

Two Information Open Houses, presenting the same information, will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Tomahawk & District Agra Centre, 51122 Secondary Highway 759, Tomahawk, Alberta.
