Notice of the Oilfield Waste Disposition Code for “Waste Transport by Pipeline”

With the recent release of Bulletin 2009-26 Requirements on Waste Transport by Pipeline and Waste Tracking, the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) outlined the addition of a new disposition type for inclusion on the annual oilfield waste disposition report submissions. The disposition code for “waste transport by pipeline” is to be identified as 22.

The ERCB requires the tracking and subsequent reporting of oilfield wastes managed by waste transported by pipeline in accordance with ERCB Directive 058: Oilfield Waste Management Requirements for the Upstream Petroleum Industry. Those oilfield wastes are required to be identified on the 2009 annual oilfield waste disposition report submissions with a tracking date starting July 31, 2009 and there after should this option be utilized.

When the consolidation of Directive 058 is released the new disposition code of 22 “waste transport by pipeline” will be identified. Questions with respect to the annual oilfield waste disposition report in accordance with Directive 058 may be directed to jennifer.fisher@ercb.ca or jolene.mckendrick@ercb.ca.
