FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WESTROCK ENERGY LTD. SWEET GAS WELL BLOWOUT BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL
Calgary, Alberta (November 26, 2005) – At approximately 4:45 pm on Saturday, November 26, 2005 a blowout at a sweet gas well licenced to Westrock Energy Ltd. was brought under control. The well is located about 40 km northwest of Rocky Mountain House.
The blowout occurred at about 11:30 am on November 26, the company notified the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board shortly after the incident occurred. Staff from the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board were on site immediately after the blowout and have already begun their investigation into the incident. The cause of the blowout is not known at this time.
The public was never in any danger during the incident, no injuries were reported, no evacuations took place, the well never caught fire, and there was no sour gas associated with the blowout. All appropriate local authorities were notified of the incident.
The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board ensures that the discovery, development and delivery of Alberta's energy resources and utilities services take place in a manner that is fair, responsible and in the public interest.
