ACCLAIM ENERGY TRUST OIL WELL KICK UNDER CONTROL

St. Albert, Alberta (December 12, 2005) On the evening of Monday, December 12, 2005, a kick occurred during drilling of an oil well licensed to Acclaim Energy Trust in the Acheson Field, west of Edmonton city limits.

A kick occurs when a volume of gas, oil or other fluids enter the well bore unexpectedly. This release can generally be controlled by pumping drilling fluids into the well bore.

The public is not in any danger, no injuries have been reported, and no evacuations have taken place. The well is under control and air monitoring equipment is on site.

Staff from the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board are on site and, as is the normal practice, an investigation into the incident will be conducted.

The EUB ensures that the discovery, development, and delivery of Alberta's resources and utilities services take place in a manner that is fair, responsible, and in the public interest.
