EUB TO INVESTIGATE PIPELINE INCIDENT NEAR FOX CREEK

Calgary, Alberta (July 25, 2006) The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) will investigate a sweet natural gas release from the Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Fox Creek Pump Station which occurred late this morning.  This pipeline release was located approximately 1.5 kilometres northwest of Fox Creek near Highway 43.

Two workers were injured when the incident occurred. One person was taken to hospital and another was treated on site. The release did not result in a fire. No evacuations were necessary and there was no danger to the public.

As a precaution, Highway 43 north of Fox Creek was closed for approximately one hour. At approximately 1:00 p.m., with EUB staff present, the release was controlled.

EUB staff responded immediately and an investigation into the incident will now commence.

The EUB ensures that the discovery, development, and delivery of Alberta's resources and utility services take place in a manner that is fair, responsible, and in the public interest.
