FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EUB ON SCENE AT SWEET GAS WELL BLOWOUT

Calgary, Alberta (August 2, 2006)  During the morning of August 2, 2006, a blowout occurred at a Cansearch Resources Ltd. sweet gas well approximately 60 kilometres east of Red Deer. 
The well is contract operated by Devon Canada Corporation.

There were no evacuations and public safety is not at risk. EUB air monitoring equipment has been dispatched and is on the way to the site. Roadblocks have been set up in the area to ensure work continues uninterrupted.

Well control specialists are en route and EUB field staff will continue to oversee well control operations.

The cause of the incident will be investigated when the well is brought under control. All appropriate authorities have been notified. 

The EUB ensures that the discovery, development, and delivery of Alberta's energy resources and utilities services take place in a manner that is fair, responsible, and in the public interest.
