EUB INVESTIGATING SOUR GAS RELEASE NEAR BIG VALLEY

Calgary, AB, (November 8, 2007) The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) continues to investigate a sour gas release that occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. on October 26, 2007 at a Bearspaw Petroleum Ltd. oil facility near Big Valley.

The EUB was notified of the incident on October 26, 2007 by Bearspaw Petroleum Ltd.

The EUB takes this incident very seriously and has launched a thorough investigation into the cause of the sour gas release and the company’s response to the incident.  EUB field inspectors and the EUB’s flaring specialist are involved in this ongoing investigation.

The EUB has arranged for mediation between Bearspaw Petroleum Ltd and a local resident during the week of November 12, 2007.  Officials from the EUB will attend that meeting.

The EUB ensures that the discovery, development, and delivery of Alberta's energy resources and utility services take place in a manner that is fair, responsible, and in the public interest.
