ERCB REQUESTS MORE INFORMATION FROM PETRO-CANADA RELATING TO PIPELINE ROUTING OPTIONS FOR ITS PROPOSED SULLIVAN FIELD DEVELOPMENT
Calgary, Alberta (September 22, 2009) An Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) hearing Panel has requested more information from Petro-Canada about pipeline routing options for its Sullivan Field applications, following the submission of written argument by all parties.
After thoroughly reviewing the submitted argument from all parties, the ERCB is requesting from Petro-Canada specific information clarifying the comparison done by the company of its preferred pipeline routes to certain other alternatives referenced by the company in evidence submitted during the hearing.
The ERCB has identified a number of issues it would like Petro-Canada to address in its additional argument regarding the alternative routes, including issues raised at the hearing such as public safety, environmental effects, land use, and cumulative effects in the area.
The ERCB has set forth a schedule for all hearing participants to submit their updated argument culminating with Petro-Canada submitting its final reply by November 17, 2009.
An ERCB public hearing was held in High River from November 12, 2008 to January 30, 2009. Petro-Canada applied to drill eleven sour gas wells, construct and operate one multi-well battery, and construct and operate two sour gas pipelines in Southern Alberta’s eastern slopes.
