UPSTREAM PETROLEUM INDUSTRY FLARING AND VENTING REPORT
INDUSTRY PERFORMANCE FOR YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2007

This ninth annual report provides a summary of gas conserved, flared, and vented from upstream oil and gas sources in Alberta during the year ending December 31, 2007. It identifies the sources of flaring and venting in the province and monitors the progress industry has made in reducing the volume of solution gas flared and vented.

The report contains the following:

• a bar chart that shows flaring from upstream oil and gas sources for 2000-2007,
• a table that shows the well test flaring of 25 companies ranked by the number of well tests conducted,
• a bar chart that shows venting from upstream oil and gas sources for 2000-2007,
• a graph that shows the percentage of solution gas conserved and the volume flared and vented annually for 1996-2007,
• tables that show the operators with the largest solution gas produced volumes and the largest solution gas vented volumes, giving their conservation performance and their production volumes as a percentage of the provincial total, and
• tables that show the percentage of operated solution gas conserved by each company, ranking the companies provincewide as well as within each ERCB Field Centre area based on flared plus vented solution gas, flared solution gas, and vented solution gas.
