Invitation for Feedback—Draft Directive on Fencing and Site Access Requirements
In Bulletin 2007-39, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) announced its intention to take a two-pronged approach to enhancing security at oil and gas facilities in Alberta. The implementation of this approach includes
• monitoring compliance of existing site access requirements, and
• establishing further requirements to reduce the risk of unauthorized access to oil and gas facilities that may pose a public safety or environmental risk.
Licensees are advised that the EUB intends to publish a directive that establishes more detailed requirements for the limiting of access to oil and gas facilities.
A draft directive has been prepared for stakeholder review and comment. It is available on the EUB Web site at www.ercb.ca under Industry Zone : Rules, Regulations, Requirements : Directives; paper copies of the draft document are available through EUB Information Services by calling (403) 297-8190.
Feedback may be electronically submitted by e-mail to ceob.papa@eub.ca, with the subject line “Draft Directive Fencing and Site Access Feedback”; hard-copy feedback may be mailed to Tamatha Mitchell, EUB Compliance, Environment, and Operations Branch, 640 – 5 Avenue SW, Calgary, Alberta T2P 3G4.
Feedback will be accepted until January 25, 2008.
