New Edition of Directive 056: Energy Development Application and Schedules Issued

Introduction
The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) has published a new edition of Directive 056: Energy Development Applications and Schedules, which is effective June 30, 2008.

This date is coordinated to coincide with a scheduled update to the Electronic Application Submission (EAS) system.

In addition to the application requirements specific to Sour Gas Planning and Proliferation announced in Bulletin 2008-04: Application Requirements for Sour Gas Development—Directive 056, the May 2007 edition of Directive 056 has been updated to capture other changes that have occurred since that release. This June 2008 edition reflects the organizational change to the ERCB, revises the page numbering system of the directive, addresses some of the requirements related to the collection of personal information, and emphasizes environmental requirements related to the Eastern Slopes. 

Summary of Updates
The following is a summary of the key updates contained in Directive 056:

• Section 5: Facility Licence Application has been updated to include ERCB Environmental Requirements.
• Section 6: Pipeline Licence Application incorporates the new requirements for sour service as defined by CSA Z662 and additional ERCB environmental requirements.
• Section 7: Well Licence Applications has had the operational disclosure questions moved from Schedule 4.3 to Schedule 4.
• Section 8: Additional Application Requirements (Special Circumstances) incorporates the requirements for sour gas development near people.
• Appendix 4: Participant Involvement Summary has been updated to remove the requirement to include phone numbers and addresses in submissions to the ERCB.
• Appendix 11: ERCB Public Documents has been updated to reflect the new Chairman’s Letter and the changes to the applicable EnerFAQs series.
